Meanwhile, Lin Caster must face a series of tests to prove whether or not she is the Goddess of the Ashkar people, meant to lead them through a coming battle. At the same time she struggles with her feelings for Conor Aurelian, Prince of Castellane, a man she is forbidden to love.
